Our Research

We gathered our information from both our own research into the product and through our mentor. First we looked into similar ideas and products ourselves but only found ideas and concepts rather than actual products which made it hard for us to innovate on an already existing product. However, our mentor talked to us about similar ideas such as the HoloLens2 which is not made for helping the visually impaired but is very similar. Therefore, with the guidance of our mentor, we have discussed and viewed similar products that could help us out with at least the design or technology of the product.

HoloLens 2 is a very well made product but the main issue we notice is the size of the product. This likely makes it uncomfortable for the user while also standing out appearance wise.

Bose Frames Alto is amazing for the bone conduction technology that allows the user to hear sounds without impairing their ability to hear external noises. However, it has no help in object detection.

Mad Gaze is a good product made by a smaller company which shows how we can have a computer recognize and isolate specific objects. However, the product does not look comfortable or stylish while also having bad performance for the recognition.
